LESSON ONE - History of the videogames industry
- Intro unit and Learning Objectives
- Set up UNIT 60 blogs
- SCREENING: Video Games The Movie (1h 45min) - hard copy on teacher machines
- VIEWING TASK: Make a note of as many statistics as you can from the documentary and write these up for homework.
- BLOG TASK: "What are your earliest experiences of playing video games? How has your relationship with games changed since then?"
- PLAY TASK: Visit the Internet Arcade hosted on the Internet Archive site and try playing some old school arcade games that you may have heard of or seen on the documentary. What is the experience of playing these games like? How do they compare to the kinds of video game you are used to playing now?
LESSON TWO - Bartle's Taxonomy
- TASK - Watch the extra credit video and what kind of Gamer would you say you are? Then take the Bartle Gamer Psychology Test and see what result you get? In your own words explain the four types and to what extent you identify with your result. You can screen shot the results and then reflect on them on your blog. Think of an example or two of your gaming experience that might illustrate the findings.
LESSON THREE - Defining games

- TASK : Jesper Juul definition breakdown sheet - explain Juul's definition in your own words and then apply it to a NON-videogame of your choice
LESSON FOUR - Naughty Dog Case Study 1
- TASK: Divide class in two and give one of the two industry case study worksheets to each half. Teacher to explain terms and answer questions.

- TASK: Make notes on industry case study worksheet during screening and complete for HW
LESSON FIVE - Naughty Dog Case Study 2
- Complete Screening
- TASK: Pair up with someone who completed the other worksheet than you. Using your notes talk through your answers so that your partner can complete the second sheet and vice versa.
- TASK: Use the internet to help fill any gaps in the two grids
- TASK: Sign in to www.piktochart.com and use the infographic templates to create a Naughty Dog fact sheet
